This week heralds a big step forward in the musical: draft 1 of the libretto is complete! Whoop whoop! Sam has been busy fleshing out all of the scenes based on all of the planning meetings so far.
Now originally, the libretto was not part of the plan (at least at this stage). At least not in a fully fleshed out form. It was going to be an outline of the story fleshed out with all of the songs, forming almost a concept album musical. But that was then, and this is now. Serendipity has a life of its own and this thing is constantly evolving! We have realised, that to make sure that this musical is where we want it to be, and for it to be the best it can be, we must have a fully working, fleshed out, workshopped and stage-ready libretto. It HAS to happen this way for this particular musical. We know just how great this project is going to be, and how much potential it has, so it makes absolute sense to start crafting this now [It also makes writing the songs a far more efficient process – Chris].
It will, however, mean delays to our original timescale. This is most definitely worth it for all concerned. All backers will be kept informed of any delays plus all backers will have access to exclusive footage and demo recordings to tide them over.
Having made the decision to produce this has brought about several questions that may affect our development cast. These fearless volunteers got involved to help develop the characters, and their first songs, for the recording. Any potential changes to the plan needed to be discussed further. So….. a quick update and planning meeting was in order. This was a great chance to take a few snaps and grab some breakfast together.
